Meet Kim

A Message from Kim:
I became interested in holistic wellness and nutrition 30 years ago. After many years of various health issues, that were not being resolved by conventional medical approaches that began at age 11, by 20 years old I had begun to believe the physicians’ claims that it was all in my head. However, I knew innately that something was affecting my entire body.

At 24, my journey into whole foods and wellness began with my discovery of Dr. Orin Truss and his “alternative” approach to health through nutrition and supplements and natural treatment for my Systemic Candida. It was the first time I balanced my body with proper nutrition and exercise. Unknowingly most of my health issues had a hormonal trigger, so pregnancies were difficult and resulted in many additional imbalances. My journey into natural health continued with my decision to breastfeed my sons and although I unknowingly had predisposed them all to later diagnosed autoimmune disorders; I am glad for the foundation I provided the entire family with an organic, whole food diet.

It became a constant cycle of health and illness for myself and my 3 sons. I have combated, Obstructive Kidney Disease with over 30 kidney stones, Lupus, Transverse Myelitis, Hypertension, High Cholesterol and Hashimoto’s Hypothyroidism. Collectively my sons have suffered an Autoimmune response to Mono that led to paralysis and two years of active disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Chronic Epstein Barr, Anxiety/Depression, ADD/ADHD, Psoriasis, and Crohn’s Disease. During this period conventional medical treatment seemed to exacerbate our illness.

I am THRILLED to say that now we are ALL well having combated our health issues with proper nutrition, exercise, nutraceuticals, and lifestyle changes.

I do not pretend to be perfect with this process, progress not perfection,
but when I get the signs from my body that I am out of balance I work to
restore wellness, both physically and mentally.

About Kim: Kim Conway (CHHC, AADP) is a holistic health consultant focused on autoimmune health, hormone balance and nutrition and natural supplementation guidance for overall wellness. Kim studied Biomedical Engineering and Nuclear Medicine at Syracuse University and Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She received her training to practice an holistic approach to well-being and nutrition at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, a Holistic Health School providing instruction on over 100 different dietary theories - combining the knowledge of traditional philosophies with modern concepts like positive psychology, primary foods, and wellness coaching. Kim received her Board Certification from the American Association of Drugless Practitioners as well as credits from SUNY Purchase for her work with IIN. Further training includes NutraMetrix Health Professional Training, Mastering Thyroid with Robin Arutt. The New Healers Master Coaching Program with Andrea Beaman, Dr. Sara Gottfried’s Hormone Cure Program and The Spiritual Warrior Series by Katie Grace Pepe.

I practice a customized holistic approach to health and wellness,
which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does

stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? As we work

together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole. You will develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle

choices that work best for you and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health.

My approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. It is not to create lists of restrictions or good and bad foods. Instead, I work with

my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun and rewarding.

Integrative Nutrition™ Plate:

The Integrative Nutrition Plate emphasizes the importance of local and organic produce, whole grains, high-quality proteins, plant-based fats, and

water. It shows you how a plate should appear at mealtime and emphasizes the importance of proportions and portion size. To complete the

picture, the plate is surrounded with lifestyle factors that create optimal health: relationship, career, physical activity and spirituality. I’ll introduce

you to some of the healthiest foods on the planet and teach you how to find what’s healthiest for your unique body!

Primary Food™

It’s easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment. It’s not just the food we eat that affects our health,

but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity, and a spiritual awareness are

essential forms of nourishment. When these “primary foods” are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. I will support you in achieving all of

your goals, from eating the right foods for your body to living an inspired, fulfilling life.

Crowding Out

Many nutrition experts give their clients a list of foods to avoid and foods to eat, which explains why so many people are turned off by nutrition. My

approach is different – by eating and drinking foods that are good for you, you will naturally have less room and desire for unhealthy foods. Simply

put, you will “crowd out” the unhealthy food in your diet. This takes a little practice to make happen, but I will support you all the way.

The concept of bio-individuality is the idea that each of us has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and

that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you to make positive changes that are based

on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and ancestral background.

Deconstructing Cravings

Cravings play a critical role in understanding what your body needs and shouldn’t be ignored. When you learn how to deconstruct your cravings

and understand what they’re really telling you, you will be able to reclaim a sense of balance and harmony.

Through this work I learned important life lessons:

• Health is not the absence of illness.

• Proper nutrition and dieting are not the same.

• Wellness can only be achieved if body, mind and spirit are aligned.
